In today's society, English is one course that is required by all university programs, that someone needs in order to apply. So I asked. Should grade 12 University level English be a requirement for entry into all university programs?
English is a course that teaches us how to read, write, how to properly use grammar, and many more.
Language
Without English, where would the world be. English is a universal language that everyone knows, and allows you to communicate with people who live in a foreign country, where you don't speak the language. The language is our primary way of interacting with others. Without language there would be no communication between people, no way to share our thoughts and ideas with others around us.It's a way that allows us to communicate with family members that we don't usually see. Family that live in a different country. Without the use of English we wouldn't be able too communicate with them, if you don't really speak or no how to really write in that language.

There are many things that make English a crucial language to learn, It is a fundamental language in communication. It is the most familiar foreign language that allows you to interact with someone from lets say Italy, or Switzerland.

I disagree with your comment on how French teaching would not require English. I believe the skills you learn in ENG4U could definitely spill over to French. Being able to analyze text is a skill that is so incredibly important when studying literature. If the French teacher had to reflect on a piece of text, they would already know some techniques that could be used to fully understand the text.
